WAP Vocal Excellence

Level set, bright, upfront, with just a little room. The whole vocal chain lives in one insert, and every stage is one or two knobs with its own on/off switch. Developed, endorsed and fine-tuned by Sven Varkel, the heavy-metal voice of Estonia – by ear, on his own vocals.

The chain

Warmth. Tube-style harmonics aimed at the presence range, not the lows.
EQ. Three bands plus a low cut.
Compressor. Opto-style. One Compress knob and a Mix.
De-esser. Automatic.
Air. Harmonic exciter plus a high shelf.
Delay. Slap, 1/8 or 1/4.
Reverb. Booth, Chamber or Hall.
Limiter. On the output, so nothing jumps out.

Formats & availability

AU and VST3 for macOS 12 or later, Apple Silicon and Intel. Signed with an Apple Developer ID and notarised by Apple; installs from a standard package, with an uninstaller included.
